HERMAN GAYLE
A well know Southeastern Artist working in oil, Herman Gayle makes her home in Huntsville, Alabama. Her subjects are inspired by the unique surroundings of the South, and the coastal environment. Collectors admire her rich use of texture and un-harnessed color pallet.
Sketching and Painting scenic landscapes at her parent’s farm, Herman Gayle began the study of line and color at an early age. She further developed her talent with private instructors, as an art major at the University of Alabama, and while teaching art to all ages as art director for a private school.
The opening of her own gallery in 1990 established her personal name and signature “Herman Gayle.” Today, Herman Gayle exhibits her pieces in exclusive showings at several fine art galleries.
She believes her own personal style and technique emerged from many years of independent study. Her work embodies an awareness of the tactile value of the paint while using informal composition to express jewel like tones of vibrant rich color. Her style is easily recognized as impressionistic touches of realistic persuasion.
Herman Gayle believes that impressionism instinctively appeals to one’s delight in nature for impressionism is, after all, a celebration for the eye.
“getting lost in the development of my work whether it is a still life, simple or complex landscape, or a scene I just have to capture is what motivates my daily desire to paint. Taking my viewers on that journey with me in the hopes that they can get a little lost with me is the joy. With all of the awards I have won over the years, none are as satisfying or rewarding as when a collector feels my work, or thinks enough of it to take it home and actually live with it.”
Herman Gayle’s work hangs in private and corporate collections throughout the United States.
Exclusively represented in Charleston by Charles II Art Gallery
