SUSANNE KAMPMANN

Susanne Kampmann is a freelance artist and a textile designer with international recognition. She was born in Germany in 1965. After studying Fine Arts and Textile Design in Germany, Italy and France she received her diploma with distinction from the University for Applied Arts, Muenchberg.

Her extraordinary ability in the arts and her detailed technical knowledge of textile manufacturing enabled her to collaborate with companies, which set the trend for the top end of the international textile market. She created designs for printed fabrics for more than ten years. International customers like Mango (Spain), Sisley (Italy), Marcs and Spencer (Great Britain) and Liz Claiborne (USA) loved her work.

In the late nighntees she started a solo studio/gallery in Germany focusing on paintings for modern lifestyle homes. Her paintings are included in many private and corporate collections in Europe. Her experience in the textile industry, her feeling for colors and trends and her passion for travelling is an inexhaustible source for new inspirations. The ability to combine art and function forms her unique style and is the key for her success in commissioned artwork.

In 2000 Susanne Kampmann moved from Europe to Charleston, South Carolina, a perfect environment for new and colorful experiments. After winning the Piccolo Spoleto poster competition in 2002 and establishing herself as one of the few abstractionists in Charleston. Her work was well received by U.S. critics and collectors and can now be found in many homes in the Lowcountry. She held several successful shows in Charleston including her 2002 Piccolo Spoleto show and as a feature artist at the North Charleston Coliseum. In 2003 she showed her work at The Wolf Gallery throughout Piccolo and is a permanent exhibitor at Charles II Art Gallery in Charleston.
