WB THOMPSON
After earning his Batchelor of Arts (History) at Trinity University, WB went on to study law and become an attorney, which didn’t last too long. Today he is a highly successful and widely collected fine artists living on St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands with his wife and daughter.
“I like to paint with bold colors. I accept color and form as independent entities to be printed separately, resulting in the interplay of abstractly applied splashes of color more or less overlapping with subsequently outlined forms. “
My artistic style matches my personality and temperament. I utilize expressive lines and follow my instincts while pursuing many different subjects. I have an art for art’s sake temperament and am unconcerned with superficial originality or titillation.
My work is the product of process balanced with risk-taking and intuition. The process involves utilizing mixed media to draw, paint, and overdraw with pencil, paint, and oil pastel. The process allows for reinvention of the image until I find it to be satisfactory. When I began painting I called it “controlled chaos”. I believe my work is part of the current evolution in art bridging abstraction and expression to a post modern assimilation. My goal is to sustain a life long effort and grow and evolve as a painter.
