TRISH WEEKS
Trish Weeks is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati DAAP with a BS in Design. She has participated and received awards in numerous juried shows locally, regionally and nationally. She has shown in galleries and exhibitions in the Southeast, Midwest, and Southwest, including Santa Fe and Charleston. Her work is in collections throughout the U.S. and Europe.
Trish's abstract landscapes are her signature work. Her oils are impressionistic, expressive, and highly energetic with bold use of color. Those who have experienced her work routinely comment on how good it makes them feel. She combines palette knife, and a liberal paint to create a vibrant, tactile experience that can best be described as "a dance with color".
“Color and three-dimensional form give me inspiration, whether it is an architectural space or canvas. Canvas allows me to bring a different sense of energy to forms within another space.
My current work is about impressionistic views of nature, tactile reflections of the energy of which I am aware. I feel the need to communicate about the composition of each space.
In my early work, I painted exclusively with brushes; but that seemed to mute the impact of colors. When I started to use a palette knife it intensified the energy and clarity of the colors. Color can be very vibrational in its combinations. Utilizing the palette knife has been a tremendous help in achieving this goal.”
